Summer Nights Programs

Posted by Harold Meyers, Coordinator, May 01, 2010

The Summer Nights indoor/outdoor program is put on every other Saturday night usually starting toward the end of May and running through August at the Golden Pond Visitors Center. The intended audience is the general public. The program is hosted by the Golden Pond Planetarium and WKAA. Attendees first meet at the planetarium for the indoor portion of the event. A special planetarium show will be presented inside the 40 foot domed theater. The planetarium show schedule will be established as the summer approaches. For the Saturday evenings in between Summer Nights, the planetarium staff will present laser light music shows. Check the schedule and price at LBL.org Calendar of Events

Weather permitting, activities will then be moved to the Golden Pond Observatory located up the hill behind the Golden Pond Visitors Center. Volunteer WKAA members will present a tour of the night sky. Public observing is the intended activity and WKAA members will share their knowledge of the night sky and demonstrate planetary and deep sky objects to the public. On occasion, members will also bring their own personal telescopes so that the viewing opportunities are multiplied accordingly.

In the event of bad weather additional planetarium shows may be presented.

The planetarium doors close when the show starts at 8:00 PM SHARP with no exceptions, so don't be late.
Check the Activities Schedule for exact dates.

This is something you won't want to miss if you are interested in discovering what astronomy is all about. See you there!
